Now for a few words about my car:-
Having fallen in love with the looks of the first Frogeye I ever saw, I searched around,
and in December 1984, found a very rough example, through the help of a friend?!?!? So
then I became the next custodian of my Austin Healy sprite.
When making choices at the beginning of the restoration process, at first, I followed the conventional tuning route.
Then one day I came across a very grainy old photograph, of a sprite with a Shorrock C75B supercharger fitted. The rest is history; my twin enthusiasms, for both the sprite and for Shorrock superchargers, have lead to wonderful times over many years.
These have been full of a great deal of fun, frustration, and hard work. I have also made many friends from around the UK, and around the globe.
After purchasing the car in 1984, and, having subsequently seen that old photograph, I realised I had to find one of these mysterious beasts to fit to my sprite.
A couple of words about the supercharger.
The Shorrock supercharger was offered as an optional extra by the Donald Healey Motor Company around the time of the launch of the car in 1958.
It took me until Christmas 1997 to lay my hands on one - I had my first trial fitting of an (incomplete) C75 B setup, onto my newly assembled engine, in the living room of our flat.
The full restoration and improvement of the car continued. Having started with an old, original size 948cc engine, a 1275cc block and crank was sourced, and the engine bored out to 1380cc.
She moved under her own power for the first time in May 1998 - complete with the Shorrock C75B setup fitted. In June 1998 she passed her first M.O.T, and was officially roadworthy again.
Of course, all this happened long before the days of the internet and e-mail. At this time all information and parts, came by word of mouth, attending auto jumbles, and
trawling through magazine adverts, etc, etc. I have thus gathered together quite an archive of Shorrock related material over the years, which has subsequently developed into the creation of this website.
The ongoing development of the car has been a steep learning curve, with many "sacrifices to the gods of speed".
I hope you enjoy looking at the results.
